Itinerary : Morocco Jewish Tours 12 day

Day 1 : Airport – Casablanca – Rabat

Upon your arrival at Casablanca airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our driver. After a transfer to your hotel for some relaxation, embark on a brief sightseeing tour of Casablanca, the economic hub and cosmopolitan gem of Morocco. Explore the grandeur of the Hassan II Mosque, a magnificent architectural marvel and one of the world’s largest mosques.

Day 2 : Rabat – Assilah – Chefchaouen

After breakfast in your riad, you’ll head towards Chefchaouen, passing by the coastal city of Asilah. Asilah is famous for its art-filled medina and the Skalla fortress, offering views of the sea and city walls. If there’s time, you’ll briefly explore Tangier to experience its unique vibe. The journey continues through the Rif Mountains’ foothills to reach Chefchaouen, known for its blue-painted buildings and peaceful atmosphere.

Day 3 : Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fez

After breakfast in your riad, you will start traveling to Fez via Ouazzan and the Roman site of Volubilis. After a couple of hours drive, you will get to Volubilis, the well-preserved Roman empire dating to 225 BC, where you will see the most beautiful Mosaics in Morocco dating back to 3rd century BC. Here you will have a guided tour of the site and learn a lot about the Roman Empire. After that, we travel to Meknes, the Ismaili capital of Morocco. In Meknes we see the fascinating gate Bab Mansour built by the sultan My Ismail; the granary and the Sahrij Souani, used for irrigation and plantation. Your visit includes also the Mulay Ismail Mausoleum. We then continue via the highway to Fez.

Day 4 : Visit Fes with a local Guide

After Breakfast , full day of exploration of Fes, Morocco, you’ll delve into the heart of the Medina during the morning, discovering cultural gems like the Al Karaouine Mosque, the ancient Medrasa Bouanania, the traditional Tanneries, and the enchanting Najjarine fountain. After a flavorful lunch, venture beyond the Medina to admire the Royal Palace gate, stroll through the Jewish quarter, and visit a pottery cooperative showcasing local craftsmanship. The afternoon unfolds with a scenic drive to one of the fortresses, offering a mesmerizing panoramic view of the sprawling Medina. This carefully crafted itinerary promises a captivating blend of history, spirituality, and local experiences in the captivating city of Fes.

Day 5 : Fez – Ifrane – Errachidia – Merzouga

we will continue our southeast journey from Midelt and Errachidia to Merzouga promises a scenic adventure. Your first stop is Ifrane, often dubbed as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” offering a picturesque setting. The route then leads through Midelt and the Ziz Valley, providing breathtaking views of the Middle Atlas and Upper Atlas mountains. A notable pause occurs in Morocco’s largest cedar forest, where you can observe Barbarian Apes in their natural habitat. As you approach Er Rachidia, the landscape transitions into a desert environment. After a fulfilling lunch in Midelt, the journey continues through the lush Ziz Valley, offering opportunities for captivating vistas. Passing through welcoming Berber villages, you’ll reach Erfoud and Rissani, significant as the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty, the prominent royal family in Morocco. Upon arriving at your riad in Merzouga, the day concludes with a warm welcome and a refreshing serving of mint tea.

Day 6 : Around Merzouga

After a delightful breakfast at the riad, your day unfolds with exploration of the surrounding area. Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the Gnawa people, originally from Sudan, as you experience their unique music and lifestyle. Nearby, the scenic Merzouga lake awaits, showcasing diverse bird populations. Consider a visit to the traditional souk in Rissani, a historic town integral to Morocco’s ruling family and a crossroads for caravans trading to Timbuctou in Mali, where locals don distinctive hooded attire and veils. In the afternoon, embark on a guided camel ride, led by an experienced camel man, to traverse the enchanting sand sea of Merzouga. The day concludes with an overnight stay at a luxurious desert camp, complete with dinner facilities and convenient flush toilets.

Day 7 : Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley- Skoura

Rise to the call of your camel guide for a breathtaking sunrise experience in the serene Erg Chebbi sand dunes. After relishing this magical dawn, hike back to Merzouga, witnessing the evolving hues of the desert landscape. Enjoy breakfast at your riad before embarking on an exploration of Todra Gorges, Morocco’s tallest and narrowest gorges, nestled in the Dades Valley. Following a delightful lunch in the valley, take a leisurely stroll through fields to discover a historic mud hamlet, engage with locals, and gain insights into their rich culture. Continue into the Dades Valley to marvel at sand castles and the intriguing “monkey toes” rock formations. The day concludes with an overnight stay in Skoura, promising a blend of natural wonders and cultural encounters.

Day 8 : Skoura- Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech

Following breakfast at the hotel, embark on a scenic drive through the captivating Dades Valley towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazate. This route, known as the way of the thousand Kasbahs, offers numerous opportunities to capture some of the most mesmerizing photographs of your journey. Pause at Kalaat Mgouna, renowned as “the rose city,” to acquire rosewater, a fragrant souvenir that will linger on your linen long after the trip concludes. Continue your journey to Marrakesh via the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a historic site built by Et Hami El Glaoui in the 18th century and now home to many Glaoui people. Traverse the majestic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260m) over the High Atlas Mountains, relishing breathtaking views, before reaching your accommodation in the vibrant city of Marrakesh.

Day 9 : Visit Marrakech with a local guide

After breakfast in the riad, your morning in Marrakesh unfolds with a guided tour, exploring historical gems like the Koutoubia Minaret, Saadian tombs, Bahia Palace, and Ben Youssef Koranic School. Wander through the medina alleys to Jamaa El Fna Square, where artisans showcase their crafts. Lunch at a nearby restaurant precedes an afternoon visit to Majorelle Gardens and a brief Gueliz tour. The day concludes with an optional walk through Jamaa El Fna Square, where lively entertainment and local flavors abound.

Day 10 : Marrakesh – Essaouira

Set out mid-morning for the coastal city of Essaouira. Serving as a tranquil escape from the vibrancy of Marrakesh, indulge in a leisurely lunch featuring freshly caught fish. Explore the serene squares, peruse artisan shops and galleries, and marvel at the unique handicrafts crafted from ‘tuya’ wood, exclusive to Morocco. Your overnight stay in Essaouira promises a blend of relaxation and cultural discovery along the enchanting Atlantic Coast.

Day 11 : Essaouira – Safi – El Jadida – Casablanca

Following breakfast, embark on a journey to Safi, a historic town renowned for its Portuguese fortress and specialties like sardines, pottery, and ceramics. Progressing along the picturesque coastal road, reach Oualidia, a peaceful fishing village. Delight in a scenic lunch overlooking the serene natural seawater lagoon, separated only by a sandbar from the Atlantic’s wild waves.
